Uganda Concern UK is a registered UK charity (number 1133440) with the purpose of:
‘The prevention and relief of poverty in Uganda, in particular by supporting the charitable work of Uganda Women Concern Ministry’.
We primarily support the work of Uganda Women Concern Ministry (UWCM) in the Mbale region of Uganda. UWCM is an indigenous Christian charity, established in 1991 by Mrs Edith Wakumire, to assist and empower people living in poverty, particularly those affected by AIDS. They focus on rural communities near Mbale in eastern Uganda and offer hope to those in need through practical, emotional and spiritual support. Many of the communities are in the remote foothills of Mount Elgon where there is little or no access to any other support.

We also contribute towards the running of UWCM in Uganda eg staff salaries, general office running costs and vehicle maintenance as well as responding to ad-hoc appeals and requests from UWCM such as funding individuals through university and other training courses.
Every penny raised is used to support work out in Uganda. All costs involved with the running/administration of Uganda Concern UK are covered by the Trustees themselves, including all travel and associated costs when visiting Uganda.
