Welcome to Uganda Concern UK

Uganda Concern UK is a registered UK charity (number 1133440) with the purpose of:
The prevention and relief of poverty in Uganda, in particular by supporting the charitable work of Uganda Women Concern Ministry’.

We primarily support the work of Uganda Women Concern Ministry (UWCM) which is an indigenous Christian charity, established in 1991 by Mrs Edith Wakumire, to assist and empower people living in poverty, particularly those affected by AIDS. They work with rural communities near Mbale in eastern Uganda including many villages in the remote foothills of Mount Elgon where people have little or no access to any other support.

In addition to creating self-help groups, skills training and small-scale saving schemes,  UWCM identifies those in greatest need and offers hope through individualised practical, emotional and spiritual support.  The combination of these interventions is very effective in equipping and enabling people to lift themselves out of poverty in a sustainable way.

Uganda Concern UK funds:

  • Children’s & Parent’s Conferences
  • Sarah’s Shelters
  • Sakiya Prayer & Porridge
  • Lwangoli Prayer & Porridge
  • Educational Support

Our money also contributes towards:

  • Women’s Groups
  • Community Groups
  • Environmental Projects (Rainwater Harvesting & Solar)

We also contribute towards the running costs of UWCM in Uganda eg staff salaries and vehicle maintenance as well as responding to ad-hoc appeals and requests from UWCM.

Every penny raised is used to support work out in Uganda.  All costs involved with the running/administration of Uganda Concern UK are covered by the Trustees themselves, including all travel and associated costs when visiting Uganda.
